The most fragmented school landscape in the state

If you are a Detroit parent trying to line up support around a school plan, you already know the hard part: "the district" is not one thing. The schools inside the city limits are spread across roughly 58 separate operating districts and academies — the main public district plus a very long list of independently chartered schools, each with its own counseling staff, its own referral habits, and its own paperwork.

That is a real complication and we are not going to pretend we have solved it. Our clinical director's district experience is in Dearborn, not Detroit. What we can tell you honestly is that we know the terrain is fragmented, we will ask which specific school your child attends rather than assuming, and we will coordinate with that school once you sign a release.

Sessions are virtual, which matters more here

Detroit is the one city in this county where getting to an appointment can mean a bus transfer or a cross-town drive during the exact hours traffic is worst. Virtual care takes that variable out. You meet your therapist by secure video from home, from a private room at work, or from a parked car — anywhere in Michigan with a stable connection.

It also means the appointment does not fall apart when the car does. Missing a session because of transportation is one of the most common reasons therapy stops, and it is the reason this practice is virtual first.

Teen therapy in Detroit

Detroit has about 56 high schools and roughly 90,800 students enrolled across 58 separate operating districts and academies. No other city in the state comes close, and it means the phrase "your child’s school district" can have dozens of different answers depending on which building they walk into.

We will ask which school by name rather than assuming, and we will follow that school’s referral process once you sign a release. What we will not do is claim familiarity we do not have: our first-hand district experience is in Dearborn, not Detroit.

Insurance and cost

We are in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Priority Health, Aetna, Cigna, Carelon Behavioral Health, and Ascension SmartHealth.

Many in-network clients pay approximately $0–$40 per session, depending on plan benefits, deductible, and eligibility. We verify your benefits before care, so you know your cost before your first session. Private pay is $150 per session.

How to start

Fill out the intake form and tell us your plan, what you are dealing with, and when you are generally free. We verify your benefits and match you with a licensed Michigan therapist within 24 hours.

If the match is not right, you can switch in one click. No awkward conversation, and no starting the intake over.

Common questions

Do you take my insurance?
We are in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Priority Health, Aetna, Cigna, Carelon Behavioral Health, and Ascension SmartHealth. Many in-network clients pay approximately $0–$40 per session, depending on plan benefits, deductible, and eligibility. We verify your benefits before care, so you know your cost before your first session. Private pay is $150 per session. If your plan is not on that list, we are not able to bill it yet — private pay is $150 per session, and we provide a superbill you can submit to your insurer for out-of-network reimbursement.
Do you have an office in Detroit?
Not in Detroit. In-person sessions are at the Dearborn office; Detroit residents can also meet by secure video. We will not describe Dearborn as a Detroit location.
Are sessions in person or online?
Both, and neither one is the fallback. The Dearborn office at 3200 Greenfield Road, Suite 300, Dearborn, MI 48120 keeps office hours Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Appointments are flexible — daytime, evenings, and weekends — in person at the Dearborn office or by secure video across Michigan. For video you must be physically located in Michigan, because your therapist is licensed in Michigan.
Do you know my child's school?
Possibly not, and we will ask rather than guess. There are dozens of separate school systems operating inside the city. We will work with whichever one your child attends once you sign a release.
