Depression is often quieter than people expect

Depression does not always look like sadness. Frequently it looks like flatness — things that used to matter no longer registering, a full day passing without anything in it feeling like yours. It can also show up as irritability, exhaustion that sleep does not fix, or a slow narrowing of what you bother doing.

People often arrive saying some version of "nothing is actually wrong, which makes it worse." That is a common and treatable presentation, not a sign that you are complaining without cause.

How therapy addresses it

Depression maintains itself through a loop: doing less means fewer things that could feel good, which means less reason to do anything. Your therapist works both ends of that loop — restoring a small amount of deliberate activity, and examining the conclusions depression has led you to draw about yourself, which usually do not survive being said out loud and looked at directly.

The early goal is modest on purpose. Not feeling great, just getting the floor to stop dropping. That is what makes the rest of the work possible.

Insurance and cost

We are in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Priority Health, Aetna, Cigna, Carelon Behavioral Health, and Ascension SmartHealth.

Many in-network clients pay approximately $0–$40 per session, depending on plan benefits, deductible, and eligibility. We verify your benefits before care, so you know your cost before your first session. Private pay is $150 per session.

How to start

Fill out the intake form and tell us your plan, what you are dealing with, and when you are generally free. We verify your benefits and match you with a licensed Michigan therapist within 24 hours.

If the match is not right, you can switch in one click. No awkward conversation, and no starting the intake over.

Common questions

Do you take my insurance?
We are in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Priority Health, Aetna, Cigna, Carelon Behavioral Health, and Ascension SmartHealth. We verify your benefits before care, so you know your cost before your first session. Private pay is $150 per session. If your plan is not on that list, we are not able to bill it yet — private pay is $150 per session, and we provide a superbill you can submit to your insurer for out-of-network reimbursement.
What if I am not sure it is bad enough for therapy?
You do not need to reach a threshold to qualify. If you are asking the question, that is generally reason enough to have one conversation. The intake asks what has been going on and a therapist reads it before your first session.
Are sessions in person or online?
Both, and neither one is the fallback. The Dearborn office at 3200 Greenfield Road, Suite 300, Dearborn, MI 48120 keeps office hours Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Appointments are flexible — daytime, evenings, and weekends — in person at the Dearborn office or by secure video across Michigan. For video you must be physically located in Michigan, because your therapist is licensed in Michigan.
What if I am having thoughts of harming myself?
Call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, or go to your nearest emergency room. Please do that now rather than waiting for an intake to be processed. Online therapy is not emergency care.
